Diary, June 1st 1900

It’s been five years already since the best day of my life occurred. Gwendolen moved in with me to my country house. I was not sure if she would agree to, but love is a powerful weapon. I will not describe how it happened, but we now have two twins that are three years old: Claude and Claudette. I can’t believe my name really was Ernest, it is still disturbing me. Of all the names I could choose to seduce my lover, it has to be the name she prefer and my real one. I can finally show my true self to Gwendolen, the way I used to live before meeting this beauty. But I have changed a bit. I am not exactly the same Jack and Ernest I was five years ago, I am now a mix of them both. I can see that Claudette will be like her mother and I hope my son will do as I did: Do what it takes to have the life you want. I am supposed to go to the city soon where I will meet my younger brother, Algy. I understand now why I was always able to “connect” with him. My aunt, Lady Bracknell, is much nicer to me now and I know she really likes me. Well, I think I will go see my little Claude and my little Claudette. Seeing them smile with their magnificent mother makes me happy for an entire month. Goodbye dear Diary.

The Diary of Gwendolen Fairfax

Dear diary, life is being generous with me for the last five years.  These years were the happiest years of my entire life.  I have been married with Ernest for five years and we have twins.  Claude and Claudette are now three years old, and they are extremely beautiful.  I know Ernest doesn’t like it when I say that, but, they look like me more than him.  We also moved in together in 1894 and we have been living in Jack's country house.  I am extremely happy with what happened in my life, In five years I got a husband, 2 children and a nice house.  I also got the respect of my mum (Lady Bracknell), she is very happy for me and for her, because she wanted so badly to be a grand-mother.  Another thing changed in the last five years and it’s the health of my dad.  He’s now getting better every day and I get the chance to dine with him when we have dinner with the whole family.  For the past two months the children have changed so much.  They are now walking and Claudette has started to talk a little bit.  So, for me, it was a change that changed my life for the best.

Algy's Diary

Today, I was wondering why it wasn’t me whose name was revealed as Ernest. My life would be much easier! On my way to the church to be christened by Reverend Chasuble, a young lady about the age of my own love started to talk to me. Her red hair was so attractive and astonishing that I couldn’t resist continuing the conversation. She was the kind of girl that knows how to keep attention on herself and so, from a certain distance we seemed to be flirting. Reverend Chasuble observed the scene and refused to christen me afterwards, to protect Cecily from my inappropriate behavior and my false feelings for her. He was not aware that I was in fact telling the young girl how love makes us feel magically joyful and that she must find another man who will care for her because I was already engaged. Now I am still waiting for Cecily to accept my name and then we will live happily together. I can’t bear it so I will have to figure out a new plan that may involve Bunburying even if I swore to not use it anymore. Earnestly, if it’s the only way to be loved by my own Cecily, I would do anything to be called Ernest too.

Miss Prism’s Diary

Dear diary,

I am living wonderful days now. Cecily, once my student, is now an adult. I sometimes forget it. As far as I know, she is very happy with Algernon. I am sad I don’t receive news from them more often. In the last paper Cecily sent me, she told me that she had just bought a new house in the country with Algernon. Although it is a bit far from where I live now, with Dr. Chasuble, I would like to visit them. As I stated before, I now reside with Dr. Chasuble. Despite the fact that he is now seventy-three years old, he still holds his charm. We take a walk every morning near the park adjacent to our house. We now live a peaceful and restful life and… Oh! By the way, I forgot to mention that Cecily now has a daughter. I think she’s three years old. I hope she will be a better student than Cecily! To tell the truth, I really hope Cecily will give back to her daughter all the knowledge I gave her. Apart from that, I never receive
news of Gwendolen and Jack, the brother of Algernon. I hope they are happy and, most importantly, still together.

I’ll see you again, dear diary.

Cecily's diary

Dear diary,

I can’t believe I’ve been married to Algernon for already five years. These years were the happiest days of my entire life. I have a wonderful daughter, named Augusta Moncrieff. She’s only four now, but she’s already so beautiful. No doubt she will be the most wanted woman in all London.

Algernon bought a peaceful house in the country. We also have an apartment in the city. When we receive people for dinner, it’s at our city apartment, and when we want to be alone, we go to our country house.

I’m so happy with my husband and my daughter. You can’t imagine how much happiness I feel. I wish I could be as happy as I’ve been in the past years forever. I hope I’ll have more children too. I love kids so much, I can’t imagine a life without having children. You can bet my dear Algy will have some work to do if he wants me to be happier.

That’s all for today my dear diary, it was a pleasure to share my happiness with you. I’ll come back soon my dear.

Personnal Diary of Lady Bracknell THE REAL ONE

My dear diary how could life have possibly turned out any better? My two nephews are married and my sweet daughter, Gwendolen, too. I couldn't have imagined anything else for her. Everything would have been so nice for such a respectful Lady like me, maybe I'd prefer nothing else. So my dear, how my life could be better now. Everything is perfect and I have two grand-children and one grand-nephew, they're so pretty. You couldn't know how "cutess" they are! Being pretty is in the family era for time and times. However, I found the older son of my sister five years ago, I couldn't have imagined those years without him. Thus, everything is sweet and shiny. Moreover my beloved husband has now a better health status, he has been coming down to dine with in the dining room each evening for almost the past two years. That's made the dinner more animated and I like that. The past years, it has been boring every night even if I have many guests. You know, being married to such a great man and seeing him in his bed every day all day long: it may become exasperating if you like to be with all the time as the beginning of your love story. On the otherhand, he may have been too possessive with me and I won't have this kind of liberty. You notice that I was there in every party of the London's high class even without my husband , so maybe I would like to keep this liberty and he would let me free even if he felt better nowadays. To sum up, in the past five years my life turned out to be better than ever: I never felt so happy before! My dear , if you know me you'll think that I'm getting crazy, but you're wrong. I'm the most intelligent person in this family, no doubt about that. After all, I'll prefer my life before everything turns out better because I can drive everyone and everything.
